6th Grade Reading Syllabus
Welcome to Read 180! The main focus of this course is to develop reading strategies which will be helpful for you to increase your overall reading and writing skills. You will be expected to read, write, complete daily sessions on the computer, and practice reading skills on a daily basis. You will also be expected to work collaboratively in small groups to enhance your reading comprehension and performance.
What you will need
1" binder notebook
1 pack of paper and PENCILS/PENS/HIGHLIGHTERS
Classroom Expectations
Always be punctual and prepared to learn
Always respect yourself and others
Always work diligently from bell to bell
Always use appropriate language
Always ask questions when you need assistance
Group - Work Expectations
Follow directions and work diligently on the task assigned
Take turns and wait patiently for your turn
Help each other with tasks
When others are sharing, listen carefully
Computer – Work Expectations
Stay on task for 18 – 20 minutes each day
Do not remove or change any equipment from the computer
Stay on Read 180 program software ONLY for the entire session

To enhance your reading and writing skills, you will work on 3 Reading Stations per day: computer program, independent reading, small group/guided reading with me. Your EDSBY account with your course grade will be updated weekly. Please check your account to monitor your progress. Make every day count!
