Daily Routines and Work:
- Bellwork: Gotchas involve students editing mistakes in daily sentences.
- Homework: Document-Based Essays (DBE) are due weekly on Mondays. Each Monday students are given a news article to read and respond to either in an explanatory or argumentative essay of three or more paragraphs. Essays must include textual evidence from the article that is cited.
- Incomplete Classwork: It is students' responsibility to finish any classwork left over after class dismissal as homework.
Make-up Work Policy:
It is the responsibility of the student to obtain, complete, and submit any missing work from absences. If the student knows about the assignment before the absence, the assignment is due upon returning to school. Class assignments can be found by checking on the class website, the make-up folders in class, and the class model interactive binder.
Late Work Policy:
Late work will be accepted only one week after its due date. If a student is absent during the time it was assigned, the student has one week to complete the work. Late work (without an excused absence) will be allotted only up to 70% credit.
Student Expectations:
Respect is the fundamental rule of the class. Students should practice respecting themselves, peers, their teacher(s), the class, and surrounding objects to ensure student safety and a proper learning environment. Other rules will be gone over in class.

- 1st time: Verbal warning
- 2nd time: E-mail or call home
- 3rd time: Letter of apology to be signed by parent
- 4th time: Referral
